Description

In the master of computational science you will gain the qualification to carry out independent research work. In this flexible program you will strengthen your knowledge and skills depending on the areas of interest.? This program is an interdisciplinary program where you can focus on math, physics or genomics. It is mandatory to take classes from at least two different areas. In general, you will learn to apply advanced programming techniques to scientific research problems.


Professional prospects / competencies

The establishment of this course arose due to the focus of the University of Regensburg in the area of high-performance computing. These students should be trained for industry as well as for scientific careers. They can pursue diverse activities in areas of research and development and may also pursue an academic career. We focus on the use of computational methods, especially high-performance computing. The program is designed to cross-link different scientific fields. Therefore, students will benefit from an interdisciplinary training and expertise from three faculties.


Program duration / standard period of study

The length of the program depends on the progress of an individual's studies. The standard period of study, the time in which the intended program can be finished ideally is 4 semesters. The actual time taken to complete the program may vary. It is limited by the examination deadlines set out in the examination regulations.

What qualities do I need to have?

Good programming skills, and a good foundation in at least one science:? Physics: Quantum mechanics.? Mathematics: functional analysis, linear algebra, numerics. Genomics: Bioinformatics and Genomics.

No, this program is does not have restricted admission. Please note, however, that you have to take part in an eligibility test.


Legal requirements for admission

Bachelor degree in computational science, physics, mathematics, molecular medicine, biochemistry or equivalent and at least an average grade of 2,5.
