18. Internationale Patristiktagung in Oxford

Vom 18.–23. August 2019 wohnten Prof. Dr. Harald Buchinger, Christopher Sprecher und Gregory Tucker aus dem Graduiertenkolleg DFG-2337 ?Metropolit?t in der Vormoderne“ der 18. Internationalen Patristiktagung an der Universit?t Oxford in England bei. bwin娱乐_bwin娱乐官网欢迎您@e Tagung, die nur alle vier Jahre gehalten wird, sammelt Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler aus aller Welt, deren Arbeit sich mit einer breiten Spanne an Themenbereichen der christlichen Theologie, der Patristik, der Kirchengeschichte, der Sp?tantike sowie des Mittelalters besch?ftigt. ?ber sechshundert Kurzreferate und Workshopvortr?ge, neben einigen Plenarvorlesungen von renommierten Gelehrten, wurden w?hrend der vier Tage der Tagung in parallel laufenden nach Themenbereichen sortierten Sitzungen gehalten. Die von der Kohorte aus dem Regensburger Graduiertenkolleg gehaltenen Vortr?ge waren folgende:

• Prof. Dr. Harald Buchinger, “Text – Matter – Ritual: Proper Prayers of the Liturgical Year in Comparative Perspective” ( ?Text – Materie – Ritual: Proprium-Gebete des liturgischen Jahres aus komparativer Perspektive“).
• Christopher Sprecher, “From Noregur to Nea Rhōmē: The Cult of Saint Olaf in Byzantium and Metropolitanism” (?Von Noregur nach Nea Rhōmē: Der Kult des heiligen Olaf in Byzanz und Metropolit?t“).
• Gregory Tucker, “The Holy Friday Idiomelon Σ?μερον κρεμ?ται ?π? ξ?λου and Liturgical Exchange Between Constantinople and Jerusalem” (?Das Karfreitagsidiomelon Σ?μερον κρεμ?ται ?π? ξ?λου und liturgischer Austausch zwischen Konstantinopel und Jerusalem“).

Neben den Treffen mit alten Freunden und Bekannten sowie einigen der bekanntesten Gelehrten zeitgen?ssischer Theologie und Patristik konnte man auch im Laufe der Woche tagsüber beim Mittagessen oder nachts bei einem Bier in der Pub gut netzwerken. Darüber hinaus boten sich allerlei Referate und Vortr?ge aus jedem Unterfeld der Patristik zum Lauschen an. Obwohl die Tage (und die N?chte!) ziemlich lang sein konnten, waren sich alle einig: die Tagung war ausgezeichnet und verschaffte jedem Teilnehmer neue Perspektiven und Einsichten für die eigene Forschungsarbeit. Alle Vortr?ge und Referate werden in den n?chsten drei Jahren in der vom Peeters-Verlag in L?wen (Belgien) ver?ffentlichten Reihe Studia Patristica erscheinen.

18th International Conference on Patristics Studies at the University of Oxford in England

From 19–23 August 2019, Prof. Dr. Harald Buchinger, Christopher Sprecher, and Gregory Tucker from the research cluster DFG-2337 “Metropolitanism in Pre-Modernity” attended the 18th International Conference on Patristics Studies at the University of Oxford in England. Held every four years, the conference gathers together scholars from around the world whose work touches on a wide range of fields, including classical Christian theology, patristics, church history, Late Antiquity, and the medieval era. Over six hundred short communications and workshop papers, together with several plenary lectures by leading scholars, were given in parallel sessions over the four main days of the conference. The papers given by the cohort from the research cluster in Regensburg were as follows:

• Prof. Dr. Harald Buchinger, “Text – Matter – Ritual: Proper Prayers of the Liturgical Year in Comparative Perspective.”
• Christopher Sprecher, “From Noregur to Nea Rhōmē: The Cult of Saint Olaf in Byzantium and Metropolitanism.”
• Gregory Tucker, “The Holy Friday Idiomelon Σ?μερον κρεμ?ται ?π? ξ?λου and Liturgical Exchange Between Constantinople and Jerusalem.”

In addition to seeing old friends and acquaintances and some of the best-known names in the fields of theology and patristics, one could network over the course of the week at various lunch sessions, over a pint of beer in the evening, and by hearing papers from every kind of subfield. Though the days (and nights!) could be quite long, all agree it was a fantastic conference that provided new perspectives and insights on each individual attendee’s research. All proceedings of the conference will be published over the next three years in the Studia Patristica series published by Peeters in Leuven (Belgium).
