Zum zweiten Mal in Folge wurde Gregory Tucker von Stig Symeon Fr?yshov und Thomas Arentzen zur Universit?t von Oslo (Norwegen) eingeladen, um am Jahreskolloquium ihrer Forschungsgruppe teilzunehmen; Letztere untersucht derzeit die Entwicklung des ostchristlichen Tagesoffiziums. Im Rahmen eines Workshops, der sich haupts?chlich mit der nur wenig erforschten Gattung der byzantinischen kata stichon-Hymnen befasste (d.h., Hymnen, die sowohl Gleichsilbigkeit [eine gleiche Zahl von Silben pro Zeile] als auch Gleichbetontheit [Betonung jeweils auf die gleichen Silben pro Zeile] aufweisen), hielt Tucker einen Vortrag, bei dem er die theologischen Aussagen dieser Hymnen mit jenen der Festtroparien der Gro?en Kirche von Konstantinopel (das Thema seiner Promotionsarbeit) verglich. Als ganzer wies der Workshop wieder mal darauf hin, dass geistliche Dichtung eine hervorgehobene Rolle innerhalb der byzantinischen Kultur einnahm und betr?chtlich zur Formung ihrer christlichen Weltanschauung beitrug. International Workshop: Byzantine Stichic Hymnography

For the second year in a row, Gregory Tucker was invited to the University of Oslo (Norway) by Stig Symeon Fr?yshov and Thomas Arentzen, to participate in the annual colloquium of their research group studying the development of the Eastern Christian Daily Office. In the context of a workshop focused primarily on the little-studied genre of Byzantine kata stichon hymns (i.e. hymns displaying both isosyllaby [equal numbers of syllables in each line] and homotony [stress on the same syllables in each line]), Tucker offered a paper comparing the theological message of these hymns to the festal troparia of Great Church of Constantinople, which are the subject of his dissertation. The workshop as a whole drew attention once again to the fact that religious poetry played a prominent role in Byzantine culture and contributed to the shaping of the Christian worldview.
