Diagnostics

Psychological-psychotherapeutic diagnostics at the University Outpatient Centre for Children, Adolescents, and Their families

At the University Outpatient Centre we carry out profound psychological and psychotherapeutic diagnostics for various psychological disorders based on current scientific guidelines. Both children and adolescents as well as their parents or guardians are included in the diagnostic process.

For the diagnosis of psychological disorders we use the following tools as required

  • a detailed anamnesis interview (i.e. we ask detailed questions about the problems, which have occured)
  • questionnaires
  • structured interviews
  • as well as so-called performance or behavioural tests in which tasks have to be completed.

If necessary, medical diagnostics by specialists (e.g. paediatricians or child and youth psychiatrists) are included in the diagnostic process.

The results of the psychological-psychotherapeutic diagnosis are interpreted by our licensed child and youth psychotherapists. A treatment recommendation can then be made. This way, other possible psychological or physical illnesses can be ruled out and the right treatment can be selected.
