Early Career Researchers

Prior to its being folded into DIMAS, CITAS supported the research and careers of early career scholars working in area studies. Postdocs and doctoral researchers were encouraged to participate actively in its events, while it also offered networking opportunities within Germany and internationally. This includes the Regensburg-Berkeley Doctoral Exchange Programme.?

CITAS' work with early career scholars was conducted through its ag:itas working group and in collaboration with area studies research-oriented institutions in Regensburg, including the Leibniz ScienceCampus Europe and America.

In autumn 2020, the inaugural Regensburg Prize for Excellent Master's Theses in Area Studies was awarded. The prize-winners in the second edition for 2021 were announced in January 2022. Find out more about the prize and the winners here.?

Joanna Moszczyńska was employed at CITAS from October 2020 as a postdoctoral researcher. She wrote a successful DFG Walter Benjamin Programme application and is now employed at the Institute of Romance Studies at UR.

Two CITAS research networks led by early career scholars were launched using funding received as part of the strategic research goals established in 2019 with the Free State of Bavaria. The networks focus on Mediterranean Island Studies and Knowledge Infrastructures.

The Center also works with partners at the University of Regensburg focused on support young researchers, such as WIN and PUR.
