ILC/Orientation Course

In order to help you to prepare in the best way for your stay in Regensburg, the International Office offers two preparatory courses.

Intensive German Language Course (ILC)

One of our most popular programs is the Intensive German Language Course (ILC). During the ILC, students have the chance to improve their language skills, while taking time to explore the town and region. Excursions and social activities are organized by our team of student assistants. They also help you with all matters of orientation and formalities associated with your study abroad period.

Orientation Course

For all students whose German skills are advanced enough to follow lectures taught in German or those who do not have the time to take part in the intensive language course, and therefore can only arrive in Regensburg right before the lectures start, UR offers the orientation course.

Participation in the orientation course is compulsory!

This free course starts about 1-2 weeks before the lectures start and consists of general orientation, an introduction to German culture, information on your studies, support with all formalities as well as guided tours of campus and the historic city center.

In contrast to the intensive language course, the orientation course does not offer any German language instruction. However, if you would like to improve your German by taking additional classes during the lecture period, you are welcome to take part in a German placement test, which takes place during the orientation course.
