Our research activities address the functional analyses of genes and proteins, or protein families, involved in
We employ a broad variety of methods from the areas of molecular biology, protein biochemistry, cell biology and genetics to address the questions related to our research topics.
We regularly have opportunities for including students at various levels into our research activities:
Laboratory practicals (i.e. Forschungspraktika, lab courses), Bachelor/Master projects and Teacher Research Projects (Zulassungsarbeiten) are regularly available. Within the three or six weeks of your laboratory practical you will have the possibility to learn basic and advanced methods related to (plant) molecular biology, cell biology, protein biochemistry, and molecular genetics (see flyer).
In case you are interested, please contact Prof. Dr. Stefanie Sprunck!
PhD students
Enthusiastic and highly motivated students, holding a Diploma or Masters degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Biochemistry, or a closely related research field are welcome to apply for a PhD position. A strong background in Plant Developmental Biology, in Molecular Biology/Protein Biochemistry and in Genetics is a plus.
We offer the possibility to join a nice lab and an innovative and highly topical research area, using current state-of-the-art techniques.
Our PhD students are integrated in the Regensburg International Graduate School of Life Sciences (RIGeL) of the University of Regensburg. RIGeL offers a well-structured PhD program designed to train its students in scientific methodology and thinking. At the same time, it wants to help them in developing soft skills like self-confidence, discipline, tolerance, team orientation, flexibility, and responsibility. Part of it is the Graduate Research Academy RNA Biology of the SFB960 “Ribosome formation: principles of RNP-biogenesis and control of their function”. In addition, our department is integrated in the Biochemie-Zentrum Regensburg (BZR). This Regensburg Center of Biochemistry and Biophysics is an internal network of the institutes of Biochemistry, Genetics and Microbiology, Cell Biology and Plant Biochemistry, Biophysics and Physical Biochemistry. It provides constant exchange in form of weekly seminars and an annual symposium, access to available techniques and specific instrumentation, and a platform for efficient and coordinated research and teaching.
For open PhD positions, please contact Prof. Dr. Stefanie Sprunck.
