Prof Dr. Thomas Dresselhaus |
Our labs are integrated in the Department Cell Biology and Plant Biochemistry, which represents one of the two plant sciences departments at the University of Regensburg.
The working groups (AGs) of the department (see names on the left panel) focus their research activities on the understanding of various molecular mechanisms related to plant reproduction and development as well as the interaction with the biotic and abiotic environment. The research objectives are the most important crop plants maize and wheat as well as Tripsacum dactyloides and Arabidopsis thaliana as model systems. Applied research relates to overcoming hybridization barriers, to engineer parthenogenesis as a component of apomixis (asexual reproduction through seeds), to develop disease resistance, plants better adapted to environmental stress, and to increase biomass and bioenergy yield potentials in cereals.

Teaching
The Dresselhaus labs are also involved in a number of basic and advanced teaching activities. Various lectures, seminars and courses are offered for BSc and MSc students in biology and biochemistry. We are also involved in the teaching degree program in biology and offer a structured PhD course. Advanced courses are offered in the following areas:
