Studying economic and social history enables students of history to come to grips with socioeconomic questions of the past, e.g. questions on economic growth, living standards, or social policies. To describe and analyze socioeconomic problems throughout history, students can acquire concepts, methods and results of the social sciences.
Students of Economics and other degree courses learn to apply the theoretical models, concepts and models, first perceived as a rather dry matter, on historical questions and thereby recognize their worth and merit.
Thus, acquiring substantial and methodical knowledge is offered to students to enable them to better understand not only the past, but – above all – also the present socioeconomic dimension.
