Chair for Information Systems II

The Chair for Information Systems II develops theoretical concepts, methods and software prototypes leading to a well-founded, design-oriented solution for relevant problems. In this way, an ideal agreement between fundamental research and applied research in cooperation with practice partners is achieved. Additionally, this approach enables to vividly teach students well-founded knowledge, methodical skills and in-depth case studies discussing the application of new technologies in organizations.

Research topics

The research topics include theoretical as well as applied problem settings:

  • Process Management, Process Simulation and Process Planning
  • Flexibility of Processes via Semantic Web Services and Mobile Services
  • Planning and Development of Context-aware as well as User-related Services and Applications on Mobile Devices
  • Assessment of Data and Information Quality and economic planning of Data Quality measures
  • Data Mining and Text Mining techniques in Social Media

Teaching goals

The students are being offered a methodologically sound, yet practically relevant education. The content of teaching corresponds strongly to the research topics mentioned above. Thereby, methods and knowledge taught by the Chair for Information Systems II aim at a broad professional field of activity. Thus, an ideal basis for your later career in practice (e.g., also in a consulting company) or a consecutive master is provided. In this way, you obtain a relevant and promising profile, which qualifies you for conceptual work from professional draft to realization.
