Vacant position in Theoretical Chemisty
We are searching for a post-doctoral researcher (f/m/d) for a collaborative research project within the RTG based mainly in the groups of Prof. Dominik Horinek (UR) and Prof. Julia Rehbein (UR) and associated to the group of Prof. Hendrik Zipse (LMU). Starting date of this position is the 1st July 2022 or later for
the period of 2 years.?Applications will be considered until Monday, 12th June 2022, 8 am.?
The research topic evolves around the reaction dynamics of radical ion pairs in ring-opening/ ring-closing reactions and their effect on product selectivities. The computational studies require sound knowledge in conformational sampling methods of small molecular aggregates (closed-shell and radical ion pairs) in solution (FF-XTB, XTB and/or QM/MM). As complementary experimental transient
absorption spectroscopy will be performed in this project, additional calculations of spectroscopic signatures (UV/vis; IR; NMR by (TD)DFT) are key to success of this interdisciplinary study and fundamental knowledge in this area is expected. In the second part of the project the actual reaction dynamics of the radical-ion pairs will be of interest, making use of BOMD simulations and analysis of the trajectories based on principal component analysis. Some basic knowledge would be beneficial
within this project, however proven expertise in this area may advance to future independent research contributions in this field.
The complex research topic requires knowledge and interest in force field-molecular dynamics simulations and QM-based calculations, the ability and willingness to intensely interact with spectroscopists and experimental chemists.
Students
Research student positions for NMR, UV, Computational Chemistry
To early integrate master students into the topics in physical organic and physical chemistry of the RTG, four research student positions are available, who work together with the PhD students on special aspects of RTG projects for 35 h per month (wissenschaftliche Hilfskr?fte, WHK).
Reduced hours during semester times and increased hours during semester breaks are planned to balance study and research work.
We expressly invite highly qualified women to apply for these positions.
