Teaching
The teaching program of the Department of Finance follows a modern and relatively quantitative view of finance. The contents comprise corporate finance dealing with investment and financing decisions of corporations and the valuation of projects and businesses, as well as financial risk management, as performed by banks and insurance companies and increasingly by ‘common’ companies to ensure long term economic survival. The Department of Finance offers a financial management course in the first phase of the bachelor’s degree and a corporate finance course in the second phase. In the master’s degree specialized courses within both the finance major and the quantitative finance major are offered. The teaching is embedded in the department’s research, but besides a solid theoretical foundation it is also practically oriented.
